Apart from two brilliant managers in Busby and Ferguson who delivered the majority of their success, they've been pretty bang average.

They missed out on Conte which unfortunately has been Spurs big gain. I couldn’t believe it when Neville said something like “Conte not a right fit for United “ . You mean not a loser.

Agree. A lot of it is fan entitlement and it’s just easy and convenient for them to complain about the owners.

I thankfully know very few Man U supporters but I am friended with one on facebook that posted something like “ they might as well just give us the title now” when they signed Ronaldo. Most West Ham fans would have posted “ Ge’ll get injured in the first game and be out for six months”. I dont know why but I like the latter.

Re: Man United Relegation thread 22/23
It’s a weird situation for the owners. If your just getting the stats from your MD in England up until last season everything was alright.

Finished 3rd, then 2nd. Shirt sales great, in Europe 2 seasons in a row. What’s the problem?

But every season, even when they finished 2nd their fans still moaned. From the fans point of view it’s blasphemous for them not to finish 1st. It’s like their birth right!

So I actually think the problem with the club isn’t the owners who have spunked more money on that club than any other owners in world football.

The problem is the fans and their entitlement that won’t let any manager breath unless they win the title. It’s the board looking at the fans that thought Ronaldo was a good idea.
The board are just petrified of the fans and the fans don’t really know what good football is besides picking the next “star” to solve their problems.

Don’t think this ends well…

Yup. They’ve backed their managers with over a billion pounds and left the football to the football people and it’s not like they don’t know how to bring success to a professional sports team. They are 100% not to blame with lack of success on the pitch.

Financially they’ve done some pretty dubious things (do they run the buccaneers the same way? I don’t think the buccs fans have an issue with them) which I don’t blame the fans for being annoyed about, however they are businesspeople not in it out of the goodness of their hearts. I think they are also just an easy scapegoat for the fans that don’t want to look in other places for what’s going so wrong.

Maybe a big part of it is just jealousy coming out about the sugar daddies at their rivals across the city and formerly in west London given their relative lack of success now.

Yep
They've loaded up with decentish attacking midifielders while ignoring defence. Ronaldo makes sense on paper due to shirt sales and goals but the expense has skewed any sort of strategic team building.
It doesn't help that their captain and supposed defensive rock's form has spiralled down the drain. There is definitely something badly wrong with the squad as they are playing like a team who barely know each other.

Re: Man United Relegation thread 22/23
I don't think they built a proper recruitment strategy after Fergie left. It was mainly down to him a bit like Arsenal after Wenger too.

Aside from that their midfield pivots are second rate and don't take any pressure off of the defence. Fred and Bruno are attacking midfielders - play them deep and you might as well stick John Moncur in there.

Finally, their owners seem more interested in players who provide asset value on a balance sheet rather than creating a solid team spirit with the potential stars of the future.

They've lost their way while Citeh seem hoover up every half decent youth prospect on the entire fuckin planet.

Re: Man United Relegation thread 22/23
didn't they lend just short of £600m to buy Man Utd, then add that money on to the total of club debt? Also Joel Glazer was lined up to be the vice chairman of the failed European super league. there's no doubt more shit they've done, utter scum

Re: Man United Relegation thread 22/23
Can't see how the glazers are getting blamed for this. Pretty sure they've thrown money at the team.

The manc fans wanna have a look at gold and sully and see what shit board really looks like.

I know they're taking wedge out of the club but aside from that I don't know enough about them to know why the manc fans are so unhappy with the board

Re: Man United Relegation thread 22/23
Was absolutely stunned watching the highlights last night. Rarely seen a defender taking a goal kick passing it three feet sideways to a keeper with two opposition attackers waiting to pounce. To get caught out once was bizarre but twice or more is comical. Reminded me of that first weekend after the law change a few years ago when Arsenal kept doing it and it all looked a bit Keystone Cops. Bet they wished they had stuck with Mourinho!

Who would join that shower?
Most players wouldn't hesitate to join despite them being shit they've never had a problem recruiting top players.
Rice and Bowen would jump at the chance to join the darlings of the football World.
